Recent Community Projects
Massachusetts
Last year, Verisk Health's Waltham office staff participated in the company's fourth annual Habitat for Humanity build in Dorchester, MA. Our large group of volunteers was divided into teams and put to work in two gutted houses with the mission to hang drywall on its walls and ceilings. Despite a lack of experience, everyone learned quickly, worked hard and, with the help of the team leaders, even learned a few tricks of the trade. By the end of the project, our volunteers were gratified to see the progress they'd made on the two houses, which will soon become homes for two needy families.

Minnesota
Employees at our Minneapolis office are a proud sponsor of World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.

Nepal
Beginning in 2008, the Sapta Koshi River in Kathmandu began to breach its embankment, turning several towns - with a population of about 107,000 people - into a disaster zone.
In response, employees from our Nepal office organized two health camps to aid victims of the Sapta Koshi River flood, erecting a Medical Camp for the flood victims at Bhardaha, Saptari. The efforts were organized around several volunteer doctors, nurses and other dedicated volunteers who provided invaluable help in diagnosis, patient care and dispensing medicine to patients.
Each volunteer played a crucial part in each effort, and it was heartening to see the volunteers' goodwill translated into crucial action amidst difficult conditions. While the doctors were the real heroes of the day, enduring a massive influx of patients, even our two drivers worked continuously in the sheds to assist the volunteers and the doctors. It was a team effort, and we made a tangible difference in many refugees' lives.
Spotlight on: Sarah Papajohn
After months of training and preparation, Verisk Health employee Sarah Papajohn entered the 2009 B.A.A. Half Marathon, presented by the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund. Sarah's grueling 13.1 mile run through a hilly Boston course was a rousing success and helped raised a great deal of money for the foundations. High five to Sarah for pounding the pavement for a worthy cause!
