J. Christian Kryder, MD, Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Kryder, an internal medicine physician, was the founder and CEO of D2Hawkeye, which was purchased by Verisk Analytics in 2009. He is now the CEO of the resulting subsidiary, Verisk Health.
Before founding D2Hawkeye, Dr. Kryder spent 15 years as a practicing internist and a leader of the medical group at MIT in Cambridge, MA. He also held chief medical officer roles at several leading companies that provided contracting and medical-management services for large physician groups throughout the United States. In 2008, he co-founded Generation Health, a genetics-benefits management (GBM) firm.
Dr. Kryder earned a BA degree in history from the University of Buffalo and an MD from Georgetown University. He completed his internal medicine residency in Boston (Harvard Primary Care track) in 1984 and then earned his MS (MBA) degree from the MIT Sloan School of Management. He has been a lecturer on the faculty of Harvard Medical School (Harvard-MIT Health, Science, and Technology Program) for more than twenty-five years. Dr. Kryder has maintained his active medical license and speaks frequently in healthcare industry settings.
Mike Coyne, President
Mike joined Verisk Health in 2005 as the head of the strategic planning group with responsibility for the development and implementation of new market initiatives. Today, he is the President of Verisk Health in charge of developing and executing strategic plans that will generate revenues, create new opportunities for business, and help the company remain competitive in the healthcare marketplace.
Prior to joining Verisk Health, Mike held a number of positions at ISO. Most recently, he was a member of the corporate business development group, where he worked on acquisitions, partnerships and strategic alliances in the healthcare space. He has served as a product manager in ISO's AISG business unit, responsible for ongoing development of the company's flagship antifraud product, ISO ClaimSearch. Earlier in his career, Mike was an associate in the professional liability group Mendes & Mount, LLP.
Mike holds an MBA degree from Fordham University, a JD degree from St. John's University, and a BA degree from the College of the Holy Cross.
Nathan Gunn, MD, Chief Science Officer
Dr. Gunn manages Verisk Health's scientific and clinical research operations, develops and maintains clinical content and intellectual property (IP), and oversees the clinical content of the company's software products.
Prior to joining Verisk Health, Dr. Gunn was the senior vice president of clinical solutions for D2Hawkeye, where he managed market and product strategy, development of clinical IP, and clinical consulting.
Before joining D2Hawkeye, Dr. Gunn completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, and then joined McKinsey and Company's North American healthcare practice. As an engagement manager at McKinsey, Dr. Gunn counseled industry and government leaders in North America and internationally, focusing on provider operations and growth strategy, international health system reform and design, and private equity.
Jim Despelteau, Chief Technology Officer
Jim Despelteau leads the product engineering team in the execution of all Verisk Health product releases.
He has more than twenty years of experience conceiving and delivering enterprise software and hardware solutions for the healthcare, telecommunications, financial services and semiconductor industries.
Before joining Verisk Health, Jim was the SVP of Engineering at D2Hawkeye (D2), a healthcare data mining company. Prior to D2, Jim led research and engineering teams as Senior Director of Advanced Technology and Engineering for Kana Software, Inc., a Fortune 100 provider of award winning, web based Customer Relationship Management product suites. Jim also held key technical leadership positions for Omtool, Ltd., an industry leader in business process automation products, and ADE Corporation, a silicon wafer metrology systems provider for the semiconductor manufacturing industry.
Jim received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Northeastern University.
Dave Hansen, Executive Vice President, Finance and Administration
Dave Hansen provides leadership to the accounting, HR and administrative teams.
Before joining Verisk Health, Dave was the Chief Financial Officer of D2Hawkeye, a healthcare data analytics company, from 2003 until 2009. Prior to his position with D2Hawkeye, Dave co-founded Falcon Capital Partners, a private investment and consulting company. Falcon's successes included Capella Senior Living, an organization that provided investment, restructuring, and advisory services for private investors and financial institutions in the long-term care industry.
From 1996 to 1998, Dave was the Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Mariner Health Group, Inc. While at Mariner, Dave assisted in the successful $1.2 billion sale of the company to another publicly traded company. From 1988 to 1996, he was a partner in the Boston office of Coopers & Lybrand LLP (now PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP).
Dave graduated with a BBA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and an MBA from Cornell University.
Nadine Hays, Executive Vice President
Nadine Hays is responsible for strategic partnerships and marketing across the several healthcare market segments served by Verisk Health. She also oversees the company's international operations.
She has nearly 20 years of experience in clinical informatics and healthcare IT, working with several leaders in the industry to introduce innovative solutions for managing the quality and cost of care. Prior to joining Verisk Health, Nadine was the Chief Marketing Officer of D2Hawkeye, which provided data analytics and decision-support tools to the healthcare industry.
Before leading the marketing and sales teams at D2, Nadine led the strategy and business development team for McKesson Health Solutions, the integrated care management and claims performance arm of McKesson Inc. She also served as an executive at various healthcare and software companies, including Ingenix, Iameter and National Healthtech. Nadine is a licensed attorney, having practiced as a securities specialist for several years.
Nadine has a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a JD from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, CA.
N. Stephen Ober, MD, Executive Vice President
Dr. Ober is responsible for leading all sales and strategic account management initiatives.
Prior to joining Verisk Health, Dr. Ober served as executive director of new ventures at Boston University (BU) a group that assists faculty to establish new companies based on BU research and technologies. He continues to work with the University as Director of the MD/MBA dual degree program and strategic advisor to the university's business incubator activities.
Before joining BU, Dr. Ober was co-founder and president of BG-Medicine, Inc., a biotechnology company. Prior to BG-Medicine, he was founder, president and chief executive officer of Synergy Health Care, a successful health information and data management company. Prior to Synergy, he spent five years as executive vice president and corporate medical director of Private Health Care Systems (now Multiplan, Inc.), one of the largest national managed care companies in the country.
Dr. Ober received his BA and MD degrees from Boston University, his clinical training in surgery and orthopedic surgery from University of California San Diego, and his MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
Mike Quigley, Senior Vice President, Operations
Mike Quigley is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company.
He brings a diversified business background to the Verisk Health team, with over 25 years of experience as a general management executive. Mike's focus on team building, productivity improvements and execution of key initiatives will help the company continue its significant growth while ensuring its ongoing commitment to quality and service.
Prior to joining Verisk Health, Mike was the Executive Vice President of D2Hawkeye, a data mining company based in Waltham, MA. Mike has also served as President and General Manager of a Honeywell subsidiary that provides service-based solutions to the utility markets nationwide. In this role, he instituted an annual cycle of strategic planning, kickoff and mid-year update to guide the organization towards its established annual goals in growth, productivity improvement, working capital utilization and people initiatives. In addition to this, he took a leadership role in challenging the organization to use Six Sigma methodology to increase productivity and improve competitiveness.
Mike is a graduate of Boston College with a BS in Accounting.
